The CNG is the French national research center which enables a response to scientific questions necessitating high throughput sequencing and genotyping thanks to the development and deployment of innovative integrated technologies. The organization of the CNG enables optimization of genetic and genomic research on human diseases by creating indispensable links between cohort constitution (DNA samples), identification of the responsible genes, and study of the transcriptome and epigenome.

Through its infrastructure, the CNG offers state of the art technologies with a view to cooperating in the implementation of programs to study genetic diseases. The technical platforms used enable the scientific and medical community to initiate national, European or international research projects on a large scale. A large number of currently ongoing outside collaborations address a variety of research fields. The cooperative work is designed to locate and identify genes in diseases, investigate for polymorphisms in candidate genes or conduct SNP genotyping through a very high-throughput method.
The CNG has also developed several in-house research programs and is contributing to implementation of large-scale European projects such as those addressing hypertension, diabetes mellitus and HLA compatibility in bone marrow transplants.
CEA is a French government-funded technological research organisation in four main areas: low-carbon energies, defense and security, information technologies and health technologies. A prominent player in the European Research Area, it is involved in setting up collaborative projects with many partners around the world.
